<br />
<a name='more'></a>Hello. Today, Time Lord Eleven had an exclusive interview with Tom MacRae, the man who wrote the incredible episode The Girl Who Waited. Tom also wrote Rise of the Cybermen and the Age of Steel in 2006. Hopefully, more Time Lord Eleven's 11 Questions will be coming soon! You can read the entire interview below: <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/58/Tom_macrae.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" id="il_fi" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/58/Tom_macrae.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" /></a><strong>1) The Time Glass has been an idea you have been brewing for a long time. How did you think of it?</strong></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I was looking at a magnifying glass in my house a while back and thinking about how it could be part of a story, and the Time-Glass idea just came to me. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><strong>2) Did you always want The Girl Who Waited to be a 'Doctor-lite' episode? </strong></div>No, that came much later on for practical reasons - but I'm very glad it di as it makes it even more Amy and Rory's story. <br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>3) If you were to come back, how do you think the episode would differ to The Girl Who Waited? Would it be more action? More aliens?</strong><br />
I'd like to do a real thrill ride action romp - just to try something different. <br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>4) Excluding your own, what has been your favourite episode of Doctor Who in Series Six so far?</strong><br />
A Good Man Goes to War (Series Six Part One Finale, it's cliffhanger being the revelation of River being Melody).<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwc1t1GlcTl82W9XYqzlQEkBSn0As4kvxH_r78d4hxPGRM5Zn_hji5skV_xoOV3xQlv-bHCQEMFbjENtYHII9QHZxZPe2rXgDnFH5fIqMa8W_t0t_IqQdIcLjYlGUdvkkBwx8Mt1HGX9Xm/s1600/girl-handbots.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="159" id="il_fi" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwc1t1GlcTl82W9XYqzlQEkBSn0As4kvxH_r78d4hxPGRM5Zn_hji5skV_xoOV3xQlv-bHCQEMFbjENtYHII9QHZxZPe2rXgDnFH5fIqMa8W_t0t_IqQdIcLjYlGUdvkkBwx8Mt1HGX9Xm/s200/girl-handbots.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="200" /></a><strong>5) In the episode, the Handbots are the main enemy. What spurred that idea of robots trying to kill you with kindness?</strong></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Because it fitted the logic of the world Amy was in. The world was trying to be kind, so the Handbots had to be too. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><strong>6) Was it strange to write for an Amy that was, in a way, the exact opposite of the Amy we all know so well (ie hating the Doctor and attacking the Handbots so aggressively)?</strong></div>No - it was great fun! And Karen loved to do it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>7) Did Steven Moffat tell you anything that needed to be in the episode or was it all your ideas?</strong><br />
It was all my idea.<br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>8) How did you first get into writing for Doctor Who?</strong><br />
Russell T Davies asked me onto Series Two. I was very pleased to be invited! <br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><strong>9) Why did you want to write for the Cybermen?</strong></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41631000/jpg/_41631814_cybermen3_416bbc.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" id="il_fi" src="http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41631000/jpg/_41631814_cybermen3_416bbc.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /></a>I didn't especially - Russell gave them to me. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><strong>10) How was the first draft of The Girl Who Waited too 'timey-wimey'?</strong></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The ending to the story was more complicated and clever - like escaping from a prison. In the end I jettisoned all of that because Old Amy's story was more interesting than any plot cleverness. <strong></strong></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><strong>11) Are you planning on writing any more Doctor Who episodes in the future?</strong></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Yes. But we shall have to wait and see what - if any - actually get made! </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div align="center" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><em>Tom MacRae, thank you.</em></div></div>TimeLordElevenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13217679548392335204noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1044170348042655107.post-35166268627087237592011-09-13T13:11:00.000-07:002011-09-13T13:11:50.410-07:00The God Complex Twenty-Two Teasers<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="http://i2.cdnds.net/11/37/618_cult_doctor_who_s06_ep_11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="220" id="il_fi" src="http://i2.cdnds.net/11/37/618_cult_doctor_who_s06_ep_11.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

<a name='more'></a>Hello. Earlier today, SFX have released a batch of hints for The God Complex, Episode Eleven of Series Six written by Toby Whithouse. You can read them all <a href="http://www.sfx.co.uk/2011/09/12/doctor-who-%E2%80%9Cthe-god-complex%E2%80%9D-spoiler-free-preview/">here</a> but half of the twenty-two teasers that thye have posted are below: <br />
<br />
<div align="center">1. This is a weird one and make no mistake. And we don’t just mean it’s surreal. It’s weirdly structured as well, with a weird tone. A meandering plot that reflects the subject matter. It’s certainly got an intriguing mystery at its heart </div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">2. The monster is magnificent…</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">3. …Although there is one dodgy creature costume as well – unless it was supposed to be dodgy?</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">4. There is a very unexpected final scene. And it’s <em>not</em> a cliffhanger</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">5. Some of the direction is breathtaking, creating an unsettling and spooky atmosphere. Lots of dolly zooms (think <em>Jaws</em>) and a couple of <em>The Shining</em> moments, plus a great chase scene near the end</div><div align="center">6. Not entirely convinced by the major guest star. He seems acting in a different show</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">7. Another character with companion potential appears</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">8. Although it’s pretty much standalone, there are consequences</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">9. The Doctor admits to a previously unrevealed cheesy talent</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">10. Rory keeps getting shown the exit</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">11. It gets quite emotional, but more “Big Bang” emotional than “The Girl Who Waited” emotional</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"><em>With thanks to SFX to the hints.</em></div></div>TimeLordElevenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13217679548392335204noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1044170348042655107.post-90610240079021376462011-09-11T02:59:00.000-07:002011-09-11T02:59:19.530-07:00Closing Time Official Synopsis<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Note: Sorry for this being late.<br />

<a name='more'></a>Hello. Today, SFX posted 20 new teasers for the upcoming episode, The Girl Who Waited, written by Tom MacRae. You can read them all <a href="http://www.sfx.co.uk/2011/09/05/doctor-who-%e2%80%9cthe-girl-who-waited%e2%80%9d-spoiler-free-preview/">here</a> but ten of them are posted below: <br />
<div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">1. A big tearjerker – biggest since Moffat took over, probably – but not cheesy, just genuinely emotional</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">2. It’s also great science fiction (except for one teensy “fairy tale” element to the resolution); it takes a clever idea, explores it and examines its moral implications…</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">3. …leading to hell of a moral dilemma</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">4. All of which could mean that it’ll be a bit of a bum-shuffler for the kids at some points (there are some lengthy dialogue scenes)…</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">5. …but the robots, a big chase scene about 10 minutes in and the action-packed final quarter should make up for that</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">6. Something new is cool now</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">7. Amy gets to perform a famous dance (briefly)</div><div align="center">8. The same, very long word is uttered nine times in the teaser</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">9. Rory suggests a novel solution to a Christmas problem</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">10. The robots have some nifty CG enhancements and a bunch of catchphrases kids’ll love to imitate</div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">So what do you think? Post your thoughts in the comments box below and remember to check out the other 10 teasers <a href="http://www.sfx.co.uk/2011/09/05/doctor-who-%e2%80%9cthe-girl-who-waited%e2%80%9d-spoiler-free-preview/">here</a>.</div><br />

At 7pm tonight, on BBC1, the Doctor, Amy, Rory, Alex and George will battle against the Peg Dolls, find what's inside George's cupboard and answer the distress call of a scared little boy. Of course, tonight is the night of Night Terrors, the episode written by Mark Gatiss. You can read the synopsis below:</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><blockquote style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><em>The Doctor receives a distress call from the scariest place in the Universe: a child’s bedroom, as the time-travelling drama continues. Every night George lies awake, terrorised by every fear you can possibly imagine – fears that live in his bedroom cupboard. His parents are getting desperate – George needs a doctor. Fortunately for George, his desperate pleas for help break through the barriers of all time and space and the Doctor makes a house call. But allaying his fears won’t be easy; because George’s monsters are real.</em></blockquote>Before you watch the episode, remember to read the <a href="http://timelordeleven.blogspot.com/2011/09/ten-night-terrors-teasers.html">hints</a> again and check the <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b014983t">promotional pictures</a> one more time to get you in the mood. Now they're back and with a much more in depth review...</span><br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Hello. Doctor Who Magazine has done it again and have reviewed the three newest Doctor Who books, Paradox Lost, Borrowed Time and Touched by an Angel. Over the next three days, I will post one of the reviews for you to read if you're not too sure on getting the books for yourself. The third review posted, written for the third time by Michael Cregan, is of Paradox Lost. So, let's begin:</div></div><div></div><div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="http://images.wikia.com/tardis/images/9/9c/Paradox_Lost.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="469" id="il_fi" src="http://images.wikia.com/tardis/images/9/9c/Paradox_Lost.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="300" /></a>The TARDIS is drawn to London in the year 2789, where the Doctor, Amy and Rory witness an android dredged frmo the Thames. The odd thing is, the android has been there for nearly 900 years and he has a warning for the time travellers. Leaving Amy and Rory to investigate the mysterious Professor Gradius, the Doctor pops back to 1910 to find out what he'll need to warn himself about...</div></div><div>As is common this month, time (or is it Time?) is at the heart of what is going on here. However, George Mann is content with just two distinct time zones and what ends up with being your common or garden time paradox. In fact, the simplicity of this plot is what's most refreshing about the book. It even applies to the characters. Beyond our TARDIS crew, there are three other speaking roles in the novel and one of them is little more than a cameo. This stands in good contrast to the Squall, the villains of the piece with their hive mind. At one point there are thousands of the nasty creatures, determined to fee on the physic energy of all time and space. The Squall don't entirely work as an enemy <em>en masse</em>, but they are quite horrific as a more individual threat in the early part of the story.</div>The most interesting character in <em>Paradox Lost</em> is Professor Archibald Angelchrist, a gentleman adventurer and sometime employee of secret government forces fighting against the otherworldly. Angelchrist is a great creation. With more than a hint of <em>The Talons of Weng-Chiang'</em>s Jago and Litefoot, Angelchrist has had plenty of adventures of his own and proves the perfect foil for the Doctor as he investigates. When Amy, Rory discover that the now-deceased Professor Gradius was working on a prototype time machine, they encounter the same android they know will end up in the Thames 900 years later. Amy calls him Arven and the three of them end up escaping the Squall in 2789 by taking the time machine back to 1910. A lot of the book is seen through Rory's eyes and it's nice to get his perspective on the gleaming future and grubby past of London. He's resourceful and determined to protect his wife whatever trouble she might land them in.<br />
Of course, by the time Amy, Rory and Arven catch up with the Doctor, he has already worked out what's going on because the two time periods are entwined like 'a noodley soup of causality' as he puts it. Presumably this soup comes in both timey-wimey and wiblly-wobbly flavours. <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Mann is able to keep the adventure rollicking nicely, and the book seems more confident when it settles on 1910 for the majority of the story. Narrow escapes, a thrilling chase in an Edwardian car (alas, not a sprightly roadster) and a real feeling of events getting out of control lead to a satisfying climax. I'd recommend this if you like your <em>Doctor Who</em> fog-bound and spooky.</div><br />

But he also says that River appears in an episode excluding the eighth and thirteenth...<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"></div><a name='more'></a>Hello. Winnipeg Free Press have posted an interview with Matt Smith about River Song. You can read it all <a href="http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/arts-and-life/entertainment/celebrities/matt-smith-doesnt-want-river-as-a-companion-128459873.html">here</a> but the important extracts are below: <br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="http://seriable.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/doctor-who-series-6-part-2-600x350.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="186" id="il_fi" src="http://seriable.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/doctor-who-series-6-part-2-600x350.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="320" /></a>Matt Smith doesn't want River Song to become a full-time companion on 'Doctor Who' - because she's the one person who makes The Doctor go "whoa". </div><br />
The 28-year-old actor - who plays the titular Time Lord in the sci-fi series - loves shooting scenes with Alex Kingston, who portrays the archaeologist, but he thinks the character would lose her shock value if she become a permanent inhabitant of the TARDIS. <br />
<br />
He told BANG Showbiz: "I think River's too independent to ever be a full-time companion, I think that's what makes River great as a character. The companions and The Doctor are doing their thing then whoosh in comes the hair! <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">"It just messes the Doctor up and makes him go, 'Oh Christ, River's here,' and it frightens him. And weirdly he's going, 'Why the hell am I attracted to her? What's that?' That's the woman who makes him go whoa." </div><br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">He said: "She's back for episode eight ('Let's Kill Hitler') and she definitely appears in nine and thirteen and she'll be back again. River's not going anywhere." </div>TimeLordElevenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13217679548392335204noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1044170348042655107.post-36039299265988701922011-08-26T07:55:00.000-07:002011-08-26T07:55:26.252-07:00Borrowed Time Doctor Who Magazine ReviewA few months ago, Doctor Who Magazine did a few reviews on the three new Doctor Who books. Now they're back and with a much more in depth review...<br />

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Hello. Doctor Who Magazine has done it again and have reviewed the three newest Doctor Who books, Paradox Lost, Borrowed Time and Touched by an Angel. Over the next three days, I will post one of the reviews for you to read if you're not too sure on getting the books for yourself. The second review posted, written once again by Michael Cregan, is of Borrowed Time. So, let's begin:</div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><u><strong>BORROWED TIME</strong></u></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: left;"><a href="http://admin.eclector.com/covers/184/9781849902335.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="486" id="il_fi" src="http://admin.eclector.com/covers/184/9781849902335.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="304" /></a>Ever wish you had more time? Of course you do; in fact the editor of this magazine is known to work regular 28-hour days just to keep you all happy. This is the premise that Naomi Alderman uses to great effect in Borrowed Time. Andrew Brown is trying his best to impress at Lexington International Bank, but he's finding it hard to get everything done. Needless to say, he's extremely interested when Mr Symington and Mr Blenkinsop offer him the chance to borrow more time. It's all repayable at an extremely reasonable rate of interest of course, and just involves wearing a special watch...</div><div style="text-align: left;">Of all the month's offerings, this book relies the least on the type of clever-clever time shenanigans seen in the TV series. In fact, it feels more like a <em>Harry Potter</em> story, more specifically one involving Hermione Granger's Time-Turner from <em>The Prisoner of Azkaban</em>, and what would happen if everyone started using them. That's not to say the book isn't firmly rooted in <em>Doctor Who's</em> particular universe. The creepy Mr Symington and Mr Blenkinsop are the latest in a line of double-acts seen in the series, and these two certainly bring to mind Mr Oak and Mr Quill from 1968's <em>Fury from the Deep</em>. </div><div style="text-align: left;">The setting of Lexington Bank, and the London City lifestyle of those who work there allows Alderman plenty of scope to make digs at the current banking crisis and those people who borrowed far more than they could afford to repay. I think I even understand compound interest thanks to the way it's explained. Don't worry, though, there's plenty of adventure and you don't feel lectured at all.</div><div style="text-align: left;">Rory and Amy get a lot to do in this story, with Amy going so far as to start borrowing time herself. This section of the book doesn't entirely ring true, but it does at least give Amy a very personal reason to want to stop the villains. Rory has plenty of the laughs, as he's sent to work in the mail room, but he is saddled with a rather too convenient gadget for most of the story.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: left;">The Doctor is again very well written and is at the centre of the story. The villain (no spoilers, as it's an enjoyable reveal) is delighted to find out that they've got their hands on a genuine Time Lord, something they reckon they can make a fortune selling on the time market. Well, you would, wouldn't you? This is perhaps the lightest tone of the three books published this month, but that's not to say it doesn't have some chilling moments when people are forced to repay their time loans.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: left;">Alderman can certainly write well and I'd welcome another <em>Doctor Who</em> story from her.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><em>Borrowed Time is written by Naomi A Alderman; features the Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory Pond and you can buy it for £6.99</em>.<em> Once again, thanks to Doctor Who Magazine for publishing the review and thanks to Michael Cregan for reviewing it.</em></div>TimeLordElevenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13217679548392335204noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1044170348042655107.post-57017683475721330222011-08-26T07:17:00.000-07:002011-08-26T07:17:49.205-07:00Arthur Darvill Metro InterviewArthur Darvill was interviewed in today's edition of the Metro about Doctor Who, Rory's many deaths and taxidermy. It’s always better than we think it’s going to be but we are amazed by how good these episodes are. Each one is like a movie. David Walliams is in one episode dressed as a mole, which is very entertaining.</div><br />
<strong>How many times do you get killed off during these episodes?</strong><br />
<div style="background-color: transparent; border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; color: black; overflow: hidden; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;">I’m not going to divulge any spoilers but Rory dying has become a bit of a thing. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve died. It’s become a bit of a running joke but it seems to work. In the world of Doctor Who, people can die and then come back. It’s good for a bit of drama and I don’t think it’s ever been gratuitous. Being shot by a big lizard is a good way to go.<br />
<br />
<strong>Have you got any plans for pop stardom yourself?</strong><br />
<div style="background-color: transparent; border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; color: black; overflow: hidden; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;">I’d like to record an album and I write music for theatre. Everyone dreams of being a rock star and playing with Fyfe gave me the taste for it. Acting’s my priority and first love and I couldn’t leave it for long.<br />
<br />
<strong>Which are your favourite monsters?</strong><br />
<div style="background-color: transparent; border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; color: black; overflow: hidden; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;">The Silence are amazing – they’re such a good psychological monster. The fact you can’t remember them when you look away from them means you can believe they might actually be amongst us. They’re a brilliant invention.<br />
<br />
<strong>Why do you collect taxidermy?</strong><br />
<div style="background-color: transparent; border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; color: black; overflow: hidden; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;">I’m a big fan of live animals but you can’t have a badger in your house. I have this idea of having a gentleman’s study with animals everywhere. There’s something old fashioned about it. I make sure I get vintage ones that are legal. I’m trying to get an owl. I’ve got a red squirrel, called Steve, and a badger’s head.</div></div></div></div></div>TimeLordElevenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13217679548392335204noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1044170348042655107.post-27823832829430376422011-08-25T08:40:00.000-07:002011-08-26T07:55:24.046-07:00Touched by an Angel Doctor Who Magazine ReviewA few months ago, Doctor Who Magazine did a few reviews on the three new Doctor Who books. Hello. Doctor Who Magazine have done it again and have reviewed the three newest Doctor Who books, Paradox Lost, Borrowed Time and Touched by an Angel. Over the next three days, I will post one of the reviews for you to read if you're not too sure on getting the books for yourself. The first one, the review written by Michael Cregan, is of Touched by an Angel. So, let's begin:<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><strong><u>TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL</u></strong></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: left;"><a href="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51rBFxng4BL._SL500_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" id="il_fi" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51rBFxng4BL._SL500_.jpg" style="padding-bottom: 8px; padding-right: 8px; padding-top: 8px;" width="250" /></a>A while ago, Doctor Who stories which dealt with the nature of time travel and its implications were about as rare as Bandril's teeth. This month all three of the new books from the BBC are concerned with timey-wimeyness in one form or another. In <em>Touched by an Angel</em>, Mark Whittaker finds himself 17 years back in the past, and realises that he might have been given the perfect chance to save his wife from a tragic death. Of course, with the Weeping Angels behind the whole thing, it's not going to be that easy...</div><div style="text-align: left;">Jonathan Morris is an old hand at this kind of story and knows that <em>Doctor Who</em> is often at its best when its roots are showing. A lot of the emotional heart of this novel will resonate with anyone who has read David Mitchell's <em>One Day</em> with its cataloguing of significant moments in a relationship. However, this is <em>Doctor Who</em>, and instead of just reading about Mark's on-off love life with Rebecca, we get to see him live through it all again as an outsider. It's a very tempting idea, which of us wouldn't want to try and change something from our past?</div><div style="text-align: left;">Sending Mark back 17 years into his personal history gives Morris a chance to play up the nostalgia factor, and the book is full of reference to pop music, television and the differences between life now and that of the mid 90s. There are some nice observations from Mark's point of view about the absence of of iPods, all the trappings of modern life, but an awful lot of the period details seem to be rather forced. One scene with Mark and his mother, where he attempts to save his father from an early death, says more about what Mark is going through that any reference to what was on the radio. </div><div style="text-align: left;">This book sees the return of the Weeping Angels; indeed with a title like that, you'd be a bit cheesed off if it didn't. They're not the most obvious enemy to use in prose - they don't speak, and without their striking visual presence, Morris has to rely on the human characters to make the Angels seem properly threatening. This lot of Angels have got a particularly cunning bunch of stunts up their stone sleeves, and our heroes are certainly kept on their toes working out what exactly the Angels are up to. The Doctor is very well written here, and he's most definitely at the centre of the story. Amy and Rory don't have an awful lot to do, although there's more of Rory than you might expect. </div><div style="text-align: left;">This is the kind of story you can easily imagine in the TV series; it leaps from one big event to another, and has the kind of plot that may well have you thumbing back a few pages to make sure you're following properly. There's a reliance on a 'Tempus ex Machina' resolution to see off the Angels, but that's backed up by signs of a new life for Mark and a nice reminder that we shouldn't get fixated on our past.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><em>Touched by an Angel is written by Jonathan Morris; features the Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory Pond and you can buy it for £6.99</em>.<em> Once again, thanks to Doctor Who Magazine for publishing the review and thanks to Michael Cregan for reviewing it.</em></div>TimeLordElevenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13217679548392335204noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1044170348042655107.post-4649056972204297262011-08-25T07:52:00.000-07:002011-08-25T07:52:37.166-07:00Official The Girl Who Waited SynopsisEarlier today, some plot details were given. Now, it's the turn of The Girl Who Waited.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Hello. Some new plot details for The Girl Who Waited have been released by Doctor Who Magazine as well as a few extra pieces of information about the episode (quotes and extra pieces of information). you can read them all below: <br />
<strong>The Girl Who Waited Plot Details:</strong><br />
<blockquote><em>The Doctor takes Amy and Rory for a relaxing break on Apalapucia, not realising that the planet is ravaged by a deadly disease – one that threatens even the life of the Doctor himself. But that’s not the biggest problem: Amy’s gone and got herself trapped in a very unusual hospital. How long will she have to wait before the Doctor comes back for her this time?</em></blockquote><strong>Quote:</strong><br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><u>Amy:</u> Apalapucia. What a beautiful word.<br />
<u>The Doctor:</u> Beautiful word, beautiful world. Apalapucia – voted number two planet in the top ten greatest destinations for the discerning intergalactic traveller.<br />
<u>Rory:</u> Why couldn't we go to number one?</div><u>The Doctor:</u> Everyone goes to number one. It’s hideous. Planet of the coffee shops.<br />
<br />
<strong>Other Information:</strong><br />
<ul><li>This is the 'Doctor-lite' episode</li>
<li>...though it won't seem that like it because the Doctor is always present in some way</li>
<li>The draft of the story was very ‘timey wimey’, but it got toned down</li>
<li>It takes place in an alien healthcare clinic called the Twostreams facility</li>
<li>Amy gets separated from the Doctor and Rory</li>
<li>The facility is set up to care for sufferers of a disease know as Chen7</li>
<li>Chen7 only affects beings with two hearts…</li>
<li>…so The Doctor is confined to the TARDIS</li>
<li>Rory gets some specs through which the Doctor can watch and communicate through</li>
<li>The Handbots are well meaning, but deadly hospital robots …</li>
<li>…They are determined to inject Amy with medicine which would kill any human</li>

Radio Times has confirmed that Episode Thirteen is indeed called the Wedding of River Song. In the past we have had many pictures of filming which involves pterydactyls, Winston Churchill, the Roman Emperor, riding on his personal mammoth and a young Rory played by Ezekiel Wigglesworth. But the title has stirred some controversy on some Doctor Who websites about the title. Some people think that the title is not like other Doctor Who episodes and it doesn't sound like it will have anything to do with science fiction. However, Steven Moffat, Matt Smith and the rest of the cast and crew have said in interviews that the finale is explosive, full of action and it answers all of the questions about River Song, the Silence and the Astronaut. It will also answer the question of who killed the Doctor and all of the other smaller ones hidden in throw-away lines that we may have missed.</div></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">But, what will Rory and Amy think of their daughter getting married? Who is River getting married to? And how on Earth does the Doctor's death fit into all of this? We'll just have to wait and see...</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Now that the all of the series titles have been completed, let's take a look at the running order:</div><br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Hello. It turns out the Daily Star was right. A few days ago, the Daily Star announced that the title for Episode Twelve was Closing Time and the title for Episode Thirteen was The Wedding, however, as it was the Daily Star, we took it with a pinch of salt because the Daily Star has published false rumours about Doctor Who in the past. But this time they were correct.</div></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">At a BBC America press release, they listed the episodes, their times, their writers and their air dates. And so, here's the information for Episode Twelve of Series Six:</div></div><blockquote><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">"<strong>Closing Time:</strong> written by Gareth Roberts, premieres Saturday September 24th, 9:00pm"</div></blockquote><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Closing Time features James Corden reprising his role of Craig Owens, the Doctor with a green coat and a Stetson, a corner shop, Cybermats and the Cybermen.So, does this mean that Episode Thirteen will be called The Wedding? Only time will tell...</div>TimeLordElevenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13217679548392335204noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1044170348042655107.post-86045797044783419122011-08-21T00:25:00.000-07:002011-08-25T00:52:45.093-07:00The End of the Holiday (Final)I'm back.
