A Good Man Goes to War Cliffhanger Breakdown

Hello. A Good Man Goes to War left us with a huge cliffhanger. It wasn't quite like the cliffhanger in The Almost People where we couldn't think of what would happen next but it will have a dramatic effect on the TARDIS Crew. I have broken down the cliffhanger for you all so that you can understand it easier.

As Amy and Rory inspect the cot the Doctor gave them, Commander Strax brings Lorna into the room who warns them that the whole thing was a trap.

The Doctor checks up on Dorium and Madam Vestra. Vestra warns the Doctor that when he is mad, he makes mistakes.

Madam Vestra asks the Doctor whether Melody is human or not. The Doctor seems worried and suddenly nervous. On closer inspection, the Doctor notices that...

...Melody's DNA is human plus Time Lord!

The lights suddenly turn off and everyone looks around. It seems like tha trap is beginning...

The Doctor and Madam Vestra discuss when Melody could have had the Time Lord DNA put into her biological system. The Doctor explains that they weren't actually together in the current universe until their wedding night.

Commander Strax scans Demons Run and says that the only alien species are the Silurians. Lorna then says that the Headless Monks are not recognised as actual aliens.

Meanwhile, a Silurian stands guard. Behind it, a Headless Monk comes closer...

The Doctor is very confused and says that Amy was worried that the baby might have a Time Head. Dorium begins to get worried and says that the clerics gave in too easily. Vestra agrees and they run off to help the others.

Madam Kovarian suddenly appears on a screen. The Doctor and Kovarian begin to talk. She says that there is a war against the Doctor.

The Headless Monks kill the Silurian guards and begin to sing a mysterious prayer.

The TARDIS is engulfed with light. Dorium and Madam Vestra return to the others. Vestra moves towards the light and realises that there is a force field around it.

As the Headless Monks come closer, Rory becomes alert. Lorna tells him that the doors are locking with them inside.

Dorium realises that the prayer the Monks are singing is the Attack Prayer. Rory and Amy go to hide Melody.

The Headless Monk begin to prepare to fight. Rory hides Amy and Melody and runs off to fight.

Dorium tries to convince the Monks to stop fighting. Rory attempts to stop him but Dorium is confident. He probably shouldn't have gone to stop the Monks though...

...he gets his head chopped off! The headless Monks come forward with their laser swords ready to fight to the death.

The Monks come forward about to fight...

Rory arms himself with a sword and a gun.

"The child IS NOT A WEAPON!"
"Give it time. She can be. She will be."
The Doctor becomes angry and tells her that he will never let her near her again. Madam Kovarian tells him that fooling him once was a joy but fooling him twice in the same was was a privilege. The Doctor runs off to help Amy.

Madam Kovarian appears behind Amy on a screen.

The fight begins. Unfortunately, Strax and Lorna are both killed by the Headless Monks.

The Doctor runs to Amy's aid but he doesn't make it in time...

It turns out that Melody was a Flesh Avatar! Amy scream for Rory. The Doctor bursts into the room and finds that the fight is over and that Rory and Amy already know. Rory comforts Strax as the Doctor talks to Lorna before they both die.

Suddenly, River Song appears. The Doctor gets angry at her for not coming sooner and then she gets angry at him and tells him that he's become more of a soldier than a healer as his name indicates. When the Doctor asks her who she is, she tells him. He is astonished and can't believe it. He runs into the TARDIS and leaves Rory and Amy.

Amy becomes angry and asks River what she said to the Doctor. River tells her that in the Gamma Forests (where Lorna came from) they have no word for Pond. The sewing Lorna made for Amy did not read 'Melody Pond' in English. It read...

Declaring War

Hello. It is with greatest sadness that I announce war on the asteroid of Demons Run. Amelia Pond has been kidnapped. She has given birth to a child named Melody and the child has been taken away from her. It is only a matter of time before the Doctor travels to Demons Run with Amelia's husband Rory to take her back. It is only a matter of time before River Song escapes from her cell in Stormcage and tells the Doctor her identity. It is only a matter of time before the Battle of Demons Run will begin...

Yes, today is the day of the Battle of Demons Run! In this episode we will discover the identity of River Song, who Madam Kovarian is and who the hooded figures are. We see why the Doctor and Rory are creating an army and we see the Doctor venture into battle...

After the episode, a poll will be added for you to vote on what you thought of the episode. I will also be announcing the results for the previous poll for the Almost People. Here is a list of A Good Man Goes to War related articles that you can read to prepare yourself for the epic war to come:

Fisher-Becker 'Dorium' Interview

Hello. Simon Fisher-Becker plays the blue-skinned alien Dorium Maldovar who sold the time manipulator to River Song in The Pandorica Opens. CultBox interviewed Fisher-Becker about his roles in A Good Man Goes to War and Episode Thirteen of Series Six. He also mentions a guest star in the entire series finale. You can check out the whole interview here and the main interests are posted below.

When asked about if he knew about coming back in Series Six:
"No idea at all! I was very happy to have my six lines and to be sat opposite Alex Kingston. I mean, people were saying things like ‘we must have you back’, but to be honest that’s said all the time - so, as much as I hoped, I didn’t hold my breath. What’s happened subsequently is far beyond any expectations."
When asked about his role in A Good Man Goes to War:
"It’s a major part in the storyline, Dorium becomes a bit of a hero!"
When asked about whether Dorium was a good guy or a bad guy:
"Dorium is at heart a good guy, but he lives in the murky depths. Think of him as Arthur Daley. Oh, you’re probably too young to remember Arthur Daley! He works in the murky world of black marketing, so that’s why River Song went to him to get the vortex manipulator [in 'The Pandorica Opens']."
When asked about Dorium's background:
"You see, because everyone always talks in code - and I’m very bad at picking up code - everything is kept quite secret, so any development of the character I have to find from the page and in-between the lines."
When asked about working with Matt Smith and the other regulars:
"Yes, although not Alex Kingston this time, which was a shame as I wanted to say thankyou - the way these things work, you don’t always get the chance to say goodbye properly. So I didn’t get to work with her this time, but you never know!
"Matt Smith was delightful - he talks a lot about football! He helps keep me at ease because I’m a visitor. As visiting artists, we’re a bit edgy and on our toes as we’re very grateful to be there, but at the same time you don’t want to mess things up! I have to say, the experience has been delightful. The whole team was lovely, it was a dream job; to be working on a programme I’ve followed since William Hartnell.
"I wouldn’t call myself a fan, but I’m definitely a follower. I was born in 1961 so I was very young when William Hartnell became Patrick Troughton but I do remember it. I was delighted when Christopher Eccleston came on and rebooted it."
When asked about the episode cliffhanger:
"When filming the episode, for example Episode 7, because of the secrecy we weren’t really told what has happened before. We only know what’s in the episode we’re doing. So now, having seen Episode 6, I’m saying ‘ahhh, yes, okay!’ - I had to chuckle, I was with some friends and the expression on their faces was a picture!"
When asked about the complete scripts for A Good Man Goes to War:
"Well, because my character is in it throughout, I did have a complete script. Our very first scene that we filmed, we were all together, but it was all out of context, it was all in the wrong order, so it was all very confusing. We had no idea what was going on, but it was an absolute hoot!
"What I will say is that a lot of questions will be answered, but then a whole bucket load of new questions will come forward. And the cliffhanger is very good, as you would expect!"
When asked about performing any stunts:
"No, being a roly-poly - because I’m a big chap - I think they were very wise in not encouraging me to do anything too exciting. There is a surprise and I can tell you, because it is out in the domain, when you see Episode 7 just remember that I do come back in Episode 13."
When asked about his role in Episode Thirteen:
"Yes, it’s already been filmed. It’s the last episode of the series and, what I will tell you, is that in Episode 7 Dorium is a hero and in Episode 13 he’s more of a tormenting mentor. Again, lots of answers - everything will be answered in Episode 13, but then something else will be asked, so you’ve got the cliffhanger to the new series."
When asked about the Prequel for Episode Seven:
"Again, that was something that came out of the blue too! I was right in the middle of filming Episode 7 and one of the producers came over and said that Steven had asked if I’d like to do an extra scene with three other characters. So I thought ‘right, three other characters, excellent’ and Steven was writing it at the time we were speaking.
"By 11 o’clock, when I got into the trailer, I found that there were three other characters, but they were mute! So I had to learn this monologue by the following morning, so that was fun. I’m very pleased with the result. And to be the main shot on the official website at the moment, that’s extraordinary, I’m very chuffed!"
When asked about the make-up he wore:
"They allow two hours, but it doesn’t usually take that long. My head is shaved, so then it’s just a case of applying the blue."
When asked about his favourite moment filming Doctor Who:
"There’s so many! I think, because I do follow Doctor Who, the fact that I actually got to be on the set of the TARDIS..."
When asked about whether he was in character at that point:
"Oh yes, in character, I did feel like a 12 year old! Also, the actual idea of being part of the Doctor Who family and being asked back, not once but twice. The camaraderie of the team was lovely, the script read-through around the table, getting into the frock! The other thing was getting to meet lots of other actors: Neve McIntosh was lovely to work with… Mark Gatiss..."
Finally, when asked about when Mark Gatiss was returning:
"That’s Episode 13."

21 More Hints For A Good Man Goes to War

Hello. The Gallifrey Times has released another batch of hints for A Good Man Goes to War. They're very interesting and worth a look. Here we go:

1. It is amazing – a true five-star episode

2. There are lots of spaceships – and that’s just in the teaser

3. There is a very Star Wars feel (The Empire Strikes Back especially) even down to the shape of the windows and the music

4. It’s action-packed and feels so much more epic than a usual single parter

5. There are lots of suprise guests stars (and some will be a surprise) but unlike in “The Pandorica Opens” none of them feels wasted – they all have a chance to shine…

6. …Apart from one maybe

7. It cracks along at a hell of a pace

8. There are some revelations that really will make your jaw drop

9. There is a terrific battle scene at the end (which more than makes up for a slightly underwhelming and confusingly directed one in the first half)

10. Although there’s lots of time travelling, it’s not a timey-whimey-reliant plot.

11. The Doctor produces something very revealing from the TARDIS

12. Rory says something very funny to an old enemy that you can’t believe has never been said before

13. It’s a great episode for both Rory and Amy (and Matt Smith is as brilliant as ever, especially in a sudden, unexpected emotional moment)

14. A throwaway line from last season becomes a major plot device

15. Somebody is asked to make a donation

16. Somebody very unexpected is playing doctors and nurses

17. We get to see somebody’s muff

18. Rory is definitely cool

19. Look carefully at the monitor screens…

20. …And the corridors

21. And please, please, please, if anyone has leaked the title for the next episode onto the internet, avoid the temptation to check it out. When the caption comes up at the end, “The Doctor Will Be Back In…” it was so unexpected and made us grin so much, we’d hate you to miss having the same experience…

Episode Eight Title and Details

Hello. After the mid-series finale and cliffhanger, the concluding episode, Episode Eight, will be broadcast three months after A Good Man Goes to War. Episode Eight has been a bit of a mystery as not many episode details have been released. However, a lot of that has changed! the title for Episode Eight has been released! Before you read it, you have been warned: it is very random, funny and quite weird. Here it is. The title of Episode Eight is:
LET'S KILL HITLER
Quite surprising, isn't it. It would link in with other details that have been released in the past as there are motorcycles and Germans running out of a building in their underwear. You won't get this anywhere else but on Doctor Who!

A Good Man Goes to War Trailer Breakdown

Hello. The trailer for A Good Man Goes to War has been released on the official Doctor Who website. You can see it here, but in the mean time, I will post a breakdown of the trailer here. WARNING! Contains spoilers! Do not read if you have not watched the Almost People and you do not know what the cliffhanger leading into A Good Man Goes to War is.

River Song in her cell in Stormcage.
"This is the day he finds out who I am."

Someone talks to the Doctor and he looks worried.
"My friend, you have never risen higher."

A group of soldiers (UNIT? The Army?) are being briefed by a soldier.

"On this day, in this place..."

"...The Doctor will fall!"
Madam Kovarian walks down a piped corridor with soldiers running behind her.

The Cybermen confront someone - Rory the Roman? The Doctor? The background looks similar to the promotional picture released a while ago for the mid-series finale.

Someone running away from green lasers. To me, it looks like Captain Avery without a hat, as he is confirmed to appear.

The Doctor runs down a corridor quickly; is he being pursued or is he running to something or someone?

Rory asks someone (Madam Kovarian?) an important question.
"Where is my wife?"

A battleship in the sky with a large asteroid behind it. Is it the asteroid of Demons Run?

The hooded figures from the Prequel have laser swords? That can't be good news.

Rory begins to fight someone - the hooded figures?

The colonel shouts loudly. What has gone wrong?

The Doctor spins round in a circle like an aeroplane. Random...

Amy holds her baby tightly.

The Doctor is very angry.
"The child is not a weapon!"

Madam Kovarian responds on a hologram.
"She will be."

Amy screams Rory's name desperately. He turns to hear the voice.

The trailer ends there.

What do you think? Do you have any theories? Post your ideas in the comment box below.
